Set up by Clive Towner and Bob Hearson in 1998, both former managers at Greene King’s now closed Biggleswade Brewery, they resurrected brewing in Potton for the first time since 1922. They expanded from 20 barrels a week to 50 in 2004. Some 150 outlets are supplied direct. Seasonal beers: Bunny Hops (ABV 4.1%, March-April), No-Ale (ABV 4.8%, Nov-Dec). Bottle-conditioned beers: Butlers Ale (ABV 4.3%); for the National Trust, Wimpole Hall, Shambles Bitter.

Shannon IPA
Shannon IPA (OG 1035, ABV 3.6%)

A well-balanced session bitter with good bitterness and fruity late-hop character. SIBA Eastern Region class winner 2003.

Gold
Gold (OG 1040, ABV 4.1%)

Golden-coloured, refreshing beer with a spicy/citrus late-hop character.

Village Bike
Village Bike (OG 1042, ABV 4.3%)

Classic English premium bitter, amber in colour, heavily late-hopped. CAMRA Bedfordshire champion beer 2003.

Shambles
Shambles (OG 1043, ABV 4.3%)

A robust pale, heavily hopped beer with a subtle dry hop character imparted by Styrian Golding hops.

Pride of Potton (OG 1057, ABV 6%)

Impressive, robust amber ale with a malty aroma, malt and ripe fruit in the mouth, and a fading sweetness.

John Cunninghams' Night Fighter
John Cunninghams' Night Fighter (ABV 4%)

A dark malty beer with a light hop character.
